The Importance of Values in the Liberal Society
I was on a TV show earlier, it was last week, and there was a woman on it, young woman. And she said, well, at the moment, there's no incentive to have children. I thought if we had needed government incentives to have children, we would not be here. We've got to kind of create a pro-natal liberalism if we don't want all the pro-natalism to exist in fairly patriarchal, religious, enclosed communities. The UK and France have for a long time had higher fertility rates than more traditional countries like Italy and Greece where girls aren't encouraged to combine motherhood with career.
