QEwing Systems - What Is a Q?
In the late 80s and early 90s, semiconductor manufacturing was going crazy. And they wanted to figure out how to handle scheduling these awful, massive, complex networks. There's no way you could come with a model that would be tractable for getting intuition about control solutions. So especially with these sort of shock type disturbances, it's so reasonable to pretend that the jobs just smoothly flow in.
