The Importance of Awe
Kant was with us in this idea that there is something that compels us to think that there's something more, right? He understands that we are compelled to be drawn towards thinking that God exists through the existence of the judgment of biological organisms. When you bring that back to biology and the way that biologists use Kant's philosophy, almost nobody who is talking about Kant in like philosophy of biology circles is talking about our ethical duty to ourselves in terms of the final purpose of the world. And I would say there is a thread which runs through all of his work; he's trying to tie it all together.
