Intro
This chapter explores the early chapters of the book of Daniel, focusing on the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem and the exile of young Israelites. It highlights the determination of Daniel and his friends to maintain their cultural and religious identity against the pressures of assimilation.
When culture tries to rename you, redefine you, and reshape your identity, how do you stay faithful to God? In Daniel 1–3, four young men—Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah—are taken into Babylonian captivity and face pressure to abandon their faith, compromise their values, and even accept pagan names. But instead, they choose loyalty to Yahweh over assimilation to Babylon. Their courage shows us how to stand firm in a world constantly trying to redefine who we are.
