The Effects of Grief on Pets
Susanna Monso believes there's been a lot of hesitation to study how animals grieve. A very, very common reaction in pets to their owners to cease is for them to consume the bodies. What they usually eat from is the torso because that's where all the nutrient rich organs can be found. So this would be sort of a form of grief, a manifestation of grief that is very different from what Western humans usually do.
