You Don't Think of McCain as a Champion, Right?

John McCain is an interesting figure in the book because he allowed Sarah Palin to take a dark turn. The most famous line, I think, that she ever uttered during that campaign was Obama was palin' around with terrorists. That came from the McCain campaign head full. It's a complicated part of his legacy for all that he stood up against the Bush administration and ran as a maverick himself.
