Self Organized Criticality in Non-Equilibrium Systems
Self organized criticality is a concept that came up sometime in the late eighties. It's inspired by face transitions n in equilibrium systems, but it's an idea for non equilibrium systems. Under certain circumstances, under certain circumstances, you can get to a situation where a system is always at this critical point between being at rest and releasing energy. And er, earthquakes are one example, and rainfall s and other examples.
