The Effects of a Mutation on Alzheimer's Disease
Anderson Cooper: There's a family in Colombia that has almost 100% chance of getting Alzheimer's. He says they developed early onset symptoms, but one man didn't get it until his 60s or 70s. Researchers found he had another gene mutation which protected an area of the brain where memory and smell are both key to living well. Cohen: This is just one case, but there could be something really important in there in terms of that protein and how it's protective of the brain.
