What Computers Are Doing Is Just the Opposite of What Brains Do
We're doing artificial intelligence mostly like we build machines. We don't yet quite know how to make machines differentiate information. What's going on with the organism is that the parts themselves are in the process of maintaining themselves. Each one of them already has a low level sentient, so to speak. And what we're seeing in the whole is a higher level sentience emerging. It's not just been put together, it's differentiated. So I like to think again that what computers are doing is something, in a sense, just the reverse of what brains are doing.
