Ranchers Dwight and Stephen Hammond had been feuding with the BLM for decades. The Hammons set fires that burned hundreds of acres of federal land in the early 2000s. They pleaded guilty, and because of the new mandatory minimums for terrorism charges, they would serve at least five years in prison. Like the Bundy's, the Hammons were holdouts.
