What Does Altruism Mean?
A lot of people use altruism simply as a synonym for benevolence or any kind of other regarding behavior. Altruism is the idea that morality is all about other people, and especially about sacrificing yourself to other people. It means giving up a greater value for a lesser value or for a non-value. And what in this context does sacrificing mean?
