type two respirited failure is characterized by a failure of ventilation. This is when insufficient oxygen reaches the alvioli, whilst carbon dioxide also accumulates due to a lack of removal through ventilation. Now this hyper capnia results in a different clinical presentation to that type one respiritor failure. These patients tend to present with warm peripheries, obtunded conscious levels.
