The role of the self becomes this very complex thing. On one hand, arrogance and pride and selfishness are these boogie men that take you away from God. And yet, when you get to the end of the rainbow, there's a role for the self. I'm stating the question, not giving any answers, that there's sort of this, the self as a paradox.
