A woman in New Jersey tried to get an atheist vanity plate on her car. When she typed it in, the automated computer server said that was not allowed. She filed a lawsuit against the state of New Jersey and they settled two years ago. The settlement allows atheists as well as quote combinations such as secular, rational, humanist, atheism, godless, heathen, LGBTQ pride.
