Electroconvulsive Therapy and the Public Image
Holly Williams: Electroconvulsive therapy has a bit of a, shall I say, a poor public image. She says ECT is highly effective in situations where medications aren't working often when TMS doesn't work. Williams: With modern ECT, we've modified the treatment in terms of where the electrodes are placed on the head and how much electricity is given. "I am also a family member of a person whose life was saved by ECT," she said.
