How to Say That Someone Made an Extra Effort to Help You Out

In the United States, when someone proposes, usually the man asks to marry the woman. This just means they proposed. To go out of your way means to help someone by doing something very extra for them. If you want to say that someone made an extra effort or sacrifice to help you out, you can say they went out of their way. You could say I went out of my way to help you and you didn't even say thanks. That would be saying that I made all of this effort and you weren't very grateful.
