Every idea exists for a reason. Everything that's here has some useful function to it or it wouldn't exist. So there's a meme theory of religion. Like any aphorism that has survived for like, you know, over a thousand years means that it had to be useful. It had to continue to get passed on through generation after generation after generation. And evolution would have, it would have left the gene pool if it wasn't something that people found to be Useful.
