People often use the word honeymoon to talk about a period of time. It's the honeymoon phase, meaning the positive period that happens at the start before reality kicks in. In this phase apparently, any differences between you and the culture you're living in are seen in a kind of romantic and positive light. When I first arrived in Paris, there was a sort of honeymoon period where I was just really buzzing from being in a new place. You know, it's almost like you're in a sort of dream.
