God Doesn't Lead as the Crow Flies

God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Throughout the story of Scripture, God's way is through the wilderness. Israel wasn't ready for war and would change their minds if they went that way. And so what I take this to mean is that God understands development. He sees where you are and he recognizes where you're not.
