In ancient greece, enslaved people were sometimes freed from slavery in a process called manumission. One of the ways you could free an enslaved person was to dedicate or sell that person to a god or a temple. Sometimes wealthy slave owners would do this in bulk as a special occasion thing,. So ho might have just freed a hundred enslaved women by dedicating them to aphrodite because of this great win. And then this scolion made it into something dirty, where they're all of a sudden temple prostitutes. But really they're not exactly archaeological evidence cited to support sacred prostitution in ancient Greece.
