The Pros and Cons of AB5 in the Trucking Industry

The trucking industry is regulated by the federal government under what's called the F4A. The Democrats have a bill called the PRO Act that codifies into federal law AB5, word for word. So if AB5 goes national, think about that hairdresser in Des Moines who rents a chair in a salon that can no longer rent that chair, but has to have a competing salon next door. Or be an employee. If I'm an employee driver, my wife got a really bad case of bronchitis. They'll probably fire me or something like that. As an independent contractor, I can just tell a dispatch, I'm going to be gone for a week.
