The Origins of Aristotle's Reforms
The Helaiii could possibly have simply been the Echlesia, or some representative portion of it, sitting as a jury. Solon's laws were set up in the Agora, where everyone could see them, although most could not read them. Certain scholars believe that Solon was the founding father of Athenian democracy. Those who believe this argue that he sought to preserve the power from the hatred of the oppressed.
