The attack on march eighth was a total failure, leaving hundreds of casualties. The same day they routed this first attack, the kronstadt newspaper published an editorial called what we are fighting for. This is clearly a revolt driven by disillusionment with the communist regime. But we do need to pay attention to some subtleties in all this.
