The Origins of the American Indian Movement

The elders in Pine Ridge, they called themselves the Ogleil-Soo Civil Rights Organization Oscar. What they were promoting was a departure to not necessarily a return, but a revitalization of these old ways of governance that were more grounded and relevant to the people who are there. And so it's important to position that that nobody is unaffected by this kind of colonial system or even the Indian child removal policies.
