God's People Aren't Just Wishfully Speaking

In Genesis 12 and 15 we see God making a covenant with Abraham that he would bless him. He wasn't just wishfully speaking about it either oh I wish I could right? Oh wouldn't it be nice if I would obey these things? What they're doing here is that they're formally making a covenant under thethreat of a curse, under the threat of a curse that they will obey and keep all of God's commands. Our God is the God of covenant and his people are following the same pattern.
