I wish I'd made more explicit the relationship between fluency and comprehension. There is lots of unconscious stuff going on in the background to allow me to read it fluently but I don't think it's the case that I really need to grasp exactly what's going on. It doesn't need to be building a perfect or a particularly wonderful situation model of this text in order to read fluently we always bring it back to reading in other languages. We're at the point where people say oh well fluency if you don't understand it fully you can't read fluentlyWell that's not necessarily the case I read Jabba Wocky fairly fluently  but there are certain aspects
