Alchemy is an ascent through descent. Dante ihe descends into hell before he ascends into the heavens. By studying matter, by understanding at the creation, you are actually descending with your mind. You're wanting to understand how this creation unfolds. All this existence is just a very thin foam that we put together in our mind. And so you have eternities on both sides of this foam. That's what fascinated me as a kid.
