The Mythology of Predictability and Control

Instrumental rationality so deeply shapes the social imaginary of the church that it determines how we read, interpret, in action the gospel and ou christian traditions. It is almost impossible for those in the north american church to imagine a form of christian identity other than that of success. Modernityis methodology is to analyze by breaking things apart in order to provide control, prediction and solutions. For the church, behind this methodology is a teleology. Namely, knowledge is objectified to achieve predictability and control in order to create our preferred future.
