The Effects of Refraction on Raindrops
Mirages are caused just by temperature differences or temperature gradients in the air near the ground. This is why you tend to find them on like on the top of hot roads and deserts and so on. Rainbows are caused by refraction and total internal reflection of light inside of raindrops. We're seeing the light coming literally what we're seeing when we see the rainbow is like that's been reflected back towards us in the raindrop but refraction is also important.
