Introduction
The Mount Palomar Telescope is a grand relic from the middle of the last century. Its mirror first saw light in 1948 and is one of the greatest accomplishments of humankind. Unlike today's telescopes which are certainly more powerful, the hail is breathtakingly elegant. The actual moment of death for a giant star isOne of the few things in the sky that actually happens quickly to human sensibility. They explode violently in what we call a supernova explosion. In this explosion all the larger atoms of the universe are created.
