When i meet with someone privately, i always ask them about their emotional health. I frequently ask about suicide, if they've a plan. If you just say, you hurt yourself, they may not feel safe to open up all the way. And i think we just have to be aware that people l g b t, laterday saints, particularly closeted ones, can get in really dark spots and it can be pretty hopeless.
