The study involved 200 female college students who were not tracking their diet at baseline. They randomly assigned half of them to track their diet in a phone app and the other group was just going to continue doing their normal thing. The researchers did not observe any significant negative effects on eating disorder risk, anxiety or depressive symptoms.
