Monotheism and the Trinity

Paul said that they were worshiping something that they don't know. Some commonalities don't equate to same referent, right? So let's take monotheism for unorthodox Christian monotheism refers to the Trinity. For a Muslim monotheism is exclusive and not Trinitarian. The fact that they both have the same referent monotheism does not equate to in any way the same God or thesame referent because there's some overlap between them. Does that make sense?
