The Different Types of Fantasy There Are
None of the words in the Lord of the Rings are just made up. They all, if you know the two elvish languages, you can actually translate them into English. Tolkien liked portal fantasies because he's always got this sense of wanting to baptize the reader's imaginations. Lewis and his brother took boats back and forth between England and Ireland so often they had a sense of being in a different realm.
