The Importance of Having a Primary Voice in Your Story

A lot of authors, myself included, and I love telling stories in first person. It gives me a little shortcut. But so often, it's hard for authors to give unique voices to many, many characters. A big part of it is sense of humor or lack thereof. If you establish how your characters laugh and what they think is funny, and you can get that in there, it's very indicative of who's talking. Anger. Some people are angrier than others. You know, people have these different traits but if you can accentuate those traits through their dialogue, it becomes clearly speaking.
