The World Health Organisation recognised obesity as a global problem 20 years ago. Professor Philip James has spent decades finding out how and why people get fat. In 1979 he helped the BBC make a series on food and health. Mary Marcel Tecakara who was speaking to Rebecca Kesby now runs a development program in the hills outside Bangalore in South India.
