The Importance of Voting in a Democracy
When kids enter high school, they're at a level of intellectual maturity that may not allow them to do theoretical physics. But certainly where they are able to consider at a certain level of abstraction. One of the things that has become a constant in a lot of the economic analysis of voting behavior is that it's actually irrational to vote. There might be more benefits socially from having kids at a younger age place an ex next to a name even if they have a very foggy notion of what the issues are. Because it makes them into political animals in a way which might make them better voters and citizens later on in life.
