The South Pole and the Antarctic Circumpolar Current

There's an extreme amount of topography in the southern ocean. The British Antarctic Survey is focusing quite a lot of its research on the Arctic as well now. 70% of atmospheric heat is taken up by the southern ocean and 40% of the carbon stored there could be warming even faster than they already are.
