John Florio borrowed not just proverbs, but with the sayings, fancy quotations that he found in his books. In 1591Florio published a bilingual language bless us man or a second fruit, with a collection of 6,000 Italian proverbs. The book is called Giardino di Recrazione - A garden of recreation.
