The Impact of Bank Size on Commercial Real Estate Exposure
The overall commercial real estate debt market is about five and a half trillion, about 60% sits on banks balance sheets. And if you look across bank sizes, it turns out that the very largest banks are the ones above 250 billion,. Whatever the 10 largest banks in the U.S., they have about a third of all the commercial real estate exposure. But as a share of their assets, it's only about 5%.
