The Two Cities

CHAPTER

The Ministry of Jesus

I think that one of the assumptions that you sort of combat in the book is that Jesus heals everyone that he needs. I've been translating through some of the gospels and he definitely feels a lot of people, but he doesn't heal everyone. So there must have been lots of people who he could have healed but didn't. The sequence is always running from his divinity. And healing is just something he can do. It's not the reason why he's there. And it's not the aim of his ministry. There's a pretty stark difference between the two things that are going on if we take the scriptural text seriously.
