Is Jesus the One Who Atones for Sin?
The idea that Jesus' death brings about forgiveness of sins may have led to this charge that he was speaking against the temple. But one thing we know for sure, Jesus predicted that the temple would be destroyed. So the prediction, just like with Jesus' trial, this prophetic prediction of the temple's doom is then simply taken as an attack on the temple.
