There's something to be said for stoicism. I don't know how it is in america, but over here we have a real issue with resilience here. You're not going to develop as a human being if you cannot take criticism. It's actually the responsibility of educators to instil stoic values andtand you can do that without suggesting that people being bullied is good thing.
