The North, the Curse, or a Dirty Backstory?

We learned on the official podcast that they were thinking of shooting a backstory for Tess where wrote it, but didn't shoot it. Where her husband was infected, her son got infected. She had to kill her husband and she couldn't bear to kill her son. The way they were going to do it is like just show you a closed door with like clicking behind it. You would find out maybe slowly over the season that this was like Tess's son locked in a basement somewhere slowly blossoming into a mushroom person. But then Joel says better than us like we don't want to be the ones to have to kill this child.
