The Ambivalence and the Insufficiency of Affection
The same conditions that allow for affection can produce a sort of implacable hatred as we've lived alongside some for so long. The very smallest things about them start to assume this proportion that is colored by contempt. That was one of the most, I don't know, observationally eye opening segments that I've read. Alistair's description of these little things that either get magnified and become deeply noxious to us, or they become magnified and we grow to appreciate them and often be amused by them.
