The Black Death and Its Effects on Europe
The Black Death was run away inflation in the 1500s and there was basically no living memory of inflation. One of the reasons why serfdom started to unravel is that with such a depletion in the labor force, you could actually start negotiating better prices for your labor because labor was so scarce. The consequences for Europe in terms of leading to the freeing of serfs, the rise of all sorts of institutions were huge.
