In the book, it's set up that he kills like, his wife and kid after going on like a gambling bender. But ome see, hes just a different person when he comes out, youknow- yes? The cool thing about the end of that story is that he kills himself because he says in his letter, i wish i could go home. And now he's out in the world where he's nobody, because, as red puts it, he's been institutionalized. He can only exist in the institution. I don't know how emotional that was for me, but it was the most illuminating part. There wasn't a clear inward or outward journey for the main
