Madero and the Mexican Revolution
Madero thought that he could win these groups over by good examples, by strict respect for the law and a broad spirit of conciliation. He seems to have believed that the workers and the Indians were capable of self-government. It's not what the Mexican people are used to, not after 34 years of rule from above.
