I returned to Augustine's city of God convinced that there was much more to his account and defensive humility. I thought recovering a fuller, the fuller account could enrich political theory and the history of political thought. Humility and pride are central themes in the city of God crucial to its inquiry and its argument. And so from the preface through book 22, this theme is key crucial right from the beginning to end of the work. So here I'll invite you to turn to your hand out. And I'll begin actually.
