A qualified small business is a company whose gross assets, valued at the original cost, don't exceed 50 millionmmediately after the stock issuance. Investors can exclude 100 % of their taxable income on either up to ten million or ten x the original investment, whichever is greater. For example, certain sectors like gold mining or farming arei eligible. But when the company and the investor meet the requirements, capital gains are exempt from federal taxes.
